You may be wondering where my top-notch, absolutely superb and informative posts are.

You may be wondering where my poorly written, taking-the-piss, what-is-she-talking-about posts are.

You may even be wondering why you’re reading this post and which of those categories it falls into.

The truth is, my friends, that I am taking a break from the blog. Life is rather busy these days – in between supporting the Arsenal there’s work, university and family – and so I find myself with less time to write what I want without it being paid, graded, or a post-it note.

I hope that this break will only be in the short-term, but it will probably extend until the new season. All things willing, I’ll be back sooner than that and your favorite Ink will be blogging once more. In the meantime, enjoy the archives, my tweets (@Inkypolo) and check up on my other website if you’re really nosy.

I’ll say ciao for now  & up the Arsenal!

Pinch, punch; first of the month! A look at Arsenal’s November

Autumn is slowing passing by in a colourful display of oranges and red (from the North bank that is)  and November has arrived with a somewhat frazzled outlook on the month ahead.

It’s fair to say Arsenal’s October has been a slippery one as far as results go; emphatic 3-1 wins against Olympiakos and West Ham United followed by 1-nil and 2-nil defeats from Norwich and Schalke 04 respectively. Broken cannons were starting to make a re-appearance in the newspapers again but for now we seemed to have saved ourselves by grinding out a 1-nil win against Queens Park Rangers and a 5-7 comeback versus Reading in the League Cup. Not the greatest of opponents I’ll grant you, but important wins for the team nonetheless.

So now that November is here we have a tough month ahead. Not only do we  have to contend with so many  heavy layers of clothing that you can only waddle to the Emirates to see a game at this time in the year;  we  face tough opponents in both the Premier League and the Champions League. Points are required this month if we are to have a very merry Christmas!

News: Arsenal Ladies do the double!

Arsenal Ladies FC won their 2nd trophy of the season last night in a 1-0 win over Birmingham Ladies at Underhill Stadium, Barnet, to be crowned winners of the Continental Cup. The victorious side were also celebrating successfully defending their Women’s Super League title less than two weeks ago;  meaning that the most decorated side in English women’s football have done the double yet again.

 After celebrating the championship by beating Doncaster 3-2 at Meadow Park, the team switched their attentions to the Cup match, determined to remain unbeaten. Despite missing out on the FA Cup semi-final, the mood amongst the girls was a joyful one at securing thier 17th peice of silverware since their counterparts on the men’s side last won a trophy.

“I’m really glad to win it again, for the second year in a row. We’ve happy to have done the double,” said Danielle Carter, Arsenal LFC’s teenage striker. “Finishing the season unbeaten was massive. It’s incredible to go unbeaten. I’m still young so hopefully there will be many more seasons where I can be a part of a team that achieves that.”

Speaking after Arsenal’s WSL win, joint-captain Katie Chapman said “This squad has a real will to win. We’re all together in this and we all want to win every game. We’d love to make it a treble, but we just have to wait and see! We’re going to progress through each game and see how we go.”

West Ham 1 – 3 Arsenal: A test of strength

Oliver Giroud celebrated his first Premier league goal today in a resounding 3-1 win away at Upton Park. Though Arsenal found themselves a goal down, they fought back with goals from Giroud, Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla in a display of fighting spirit within the team.

Arsenal 6 – 1 Coventry: The kids are alright

Oliver Groud scored his first goal for Arsenal in tonight’s 6-1 demolition of Coventry in the Capital One Cup. While he netted the first, Girouds later penalty was saved but the scoreline was boosted by goals from Miguel, Arshavin, Oxlade-Chamberlin and Walcott (x2). Arsenal progress into the 4th round of the cup.
